A Clinical Study of 2% Topical Minoxidil Theraphy in Male Pattern Alopecia

Abstract

|
After informed consent, 36 patients were entered into a study to test the efficacy and safety of topical 2% minoxidil solution in the treatment of male pattern alopecia.
Twenty-two patients (71. 0%) had vellus and terminal hair. regrowth after 4 to 24 weeks of treatment in comparison with placebo study. In the majority of patients, hair regrowth was cosmetically acceptable. One patient developed a pruritus during topical minoxidil therapy, but no systemic side effects were detected.
From the results, 2% topical minoxidil is an effective and safe therapeutic agent for male pattern alopecia.
